A while back Jen and I shot some before pictures of a soon-to-be renovated  apartment at One 5th Ave. And as we were leaving, we took a couple of silly snaps with the camera remote control in hand.

Above is a photo of the Hudson River taken with my phone one early morning. I had stepped out of the studio to contemplate, and in this moment I found some clarity in the fog.

So, what would purity in the city look like? How visible would just a small amount of purity in the chaos and distraction of New York City? That was a recent question in my mind. Through a somewhat strange, off beat mental journey I came up with white balloons filled with helium. You don’t usually see a big bunch of balloons in the ciy. And when you do … Well, there is something refreshing about that sight.

I walked around Manhattan for a few hours toting my 25 balloons, camera and some light gear. And let me tell you … What an experience! I had more random conversations, smiles, giggles, waves, gestures, and hellos in those three short hours than any other three hours in my life!

New York City is such a surprising place.

A great long-time friend, Trey, helped me out on a shoot one day way back when, and one of Trey’s “things” as a painter are diptychs. So, here’s a diptych of Trey !

Jenny and I volunteered for the third annual Easter Egg Hunt put together by the Gallery Church yesterday. And wow !! Not sure, but we believe over 5,000 parents and children made it out this year to Central Park. Some photos below …

We ran a quick errand over the weekend which took us to midtown, to drop off my new/antique watch at jewelers for a little speed up. Regardless, I had the camera with me for a change. So, here are a few shots from what became a productive errand, in more ways than one.

Got lots and lots of snow last night … maybe 8 inches or more. And its still coming down!!

Jenny on the stoop of our building on Halloween night 2008 sporting her vintage “cat” hat … I love this shot. I love my beautiful, wonderful wife !! She’s the most patient stand-in ever. Only this time, this shot was all about her !!

Last Sunday I had the privilege of photographing Paul Ramey in the theatre of PS 9 located at the corner of W84 St. and Columbus Ave.

Paul is a musician and an urban missionary … And has an amazing story. He and his family (wife and three boys) recently relocated to NYC to be urban missionaries. I highly recommend keeping up with the Ramey journey at the UrbanJournal.net

I’m looking forward to working with Paul more and photographing him, as well as his family. Just waiting for it to warm up!
